WhatsApp Is Banning Some Users. Here’s Why And How To Fix The Problem.

WhatsApp has banned some users for 24 hours because they violated the app’s ‘terms of service’ by using a third-party client.

Whatsapp Plus users banned by Whatsapp

Users are reporting the banning issue via different social networks such Facebook, Google+ and Twitter revealing that the ban is only for those Android users who were using the popular third-party client called WhatsApp+ or WhatsApp Plus.

WhatsApp has posted same reason in their FAQ section by giving the following statement.

“WhatsApp Plus is an application that was not developed by WhatsApp, nor is it authorized by WhatsApp. The developers of WhatsApp Plus have no relationship to WhatsApp, and we do not support WhatsApp Plus. Please be aware that WhatsApp Plus contains source code which WhatsApp cannot guarantee as safe and that your private information is potentially being passed to 3rd parties without your knowledge or authorization.”

The company has asked the users to uninstall WhatsApp+ and install an authorized version of WhatsApp from its official website or Google Play to reuse the service, although the 24-hour ban period will reportedly remain in effect for the full duration despite replacing or uninstalling the app.

Why people use GB WhatsApp etc. (modded Apps) and why these apps are being banned

While the company has done a pretty good job of designing the app and adding features, there are plenty of features that are still missing from the app. In an attempt to fill that gap, developers started creating modded versions of WhatsApp that went above and beyond to make sure users get the features that aren’t present in the actual app. Although this worked out in favor of the users, modded apps do pose a significant threat to WhatsApp and to the users as well in terms of privacy and security. That’s why the company has decided to ban these type of apps.

How To Switch To Official WhatsApp App

If you are using third-party WhatsApp apps, you should migrate to the official app as soon as possible. There are several ways to do that, depending on the app you’re using. The simplest way is to uninstall the mod and download WhatsApp from Play Store. However, you might lose your chats if you haven’t backed it up. So here are some ways to safely switch to the official app:

GBWhatsApp :

If you are already banned, wait for the ban to end. Thereafter follow the following steps :

  1. Go to GBWhatsApp.
  2. More options > Chats > Back up chats
  3. Open File Explorer.
  4. Find GBWhatsApp & rename it to WhatsApp.
  5. Uninstall GBWhatsApp and download the official app from Play Store.
  6. Verify your number.

WhatsApp Plus :

If your chats were previously backed up, you do not need to do anything. If not, follow the similar steps as above. Backup Chats and if necessary, change the folder name to WhatsApp.
